V&A Friday Late Co-Design Workshop

To celebrate the opening of The Dr Susan Weber Gallery of furniture and ceramics on the 6th floor at the V&A, they put on a Friday late event to explore ‘The Secret Life of Furniture’. Made in Brunel were invited to hold a workshop on the subject of the future of furniture. In an effort to highlight the repairability of furniture, I curated a workshop based around the concept of a ‘Pop up House’.

We invited participants to enter an alternate reality and concoct new and exciting design solutions for the home, showing them that everyone can come up with creative design outcomes. By encouraging the ‘Make do and Mend’ philosophy we wanted to open participants eyes to the fact that simply buying a new piece of furniture is not always the answer and that we should instil longevity in our furniture.
